The famous singer Bono , whose real name is Paul David Hewson, was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1960. Bono is the lead singer of the famous rock band U2. Bono is also the famous political activist for causes such as poverty in Africa and for the cancellation of the external debt of third world countries, work for which has received two of his three nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize. The singer has collaborated with many international artists such as Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. Bono has a relationship with fellow activist Ali Hewson with whom he married in 1982. Bono has two sons and two daughters, one of them is the famous actress Eve Hewston.

The international music band U2 emerged after a group of college in 1976 when Larry Mullen Jr. announced he was looking for people to form a rock band. In addition to the famous singer Bono, also they added David Evans, called The Edge and Adam Clayton. The four band members formed the musical band called Feedback, which changed its name to The Hype, to finally adopt the name U2. In the beginning, Bono was a singer, guitarist and composer of the group, but was taking the current role of lead singer, while still playing rhythm guitar and harmonica in a timely manner. Their first studio album, Boy, was released in 1980 and since then, their discography has spread to thirteen studio albums.

The sound of the band U2 has maintained a melodic base. Their lyrics, represented by the magnificent vocal sound of the famous singer Bono, are primarily concerned with personal issues, social justice and peace. The rock band is one of the groups that has sold worldwide a number of 150 million copies. The four components have received numerous awards, among them 22 Grammy Awards, 7 Bit Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards, among others. Also in 2005 the band was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Rock and Roll.

Bono is the only artist who has ever received nominations for election to the Oscar, Golden Globe, Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. The famous singer known for his social work, has provided assistance to organizations such as Amnesty International, The Chernobyl Children's Project and Greenpeace. In 2002, the artist along with other activists founded Jubilee 2000 Drop the Debt. This organization aims to help Africa with its huge debts and the difficulty of being paid, the transmission of AIDS and unfair trade rules affecting poor citizens. Other awards of the U2 singer are his appointment as Knight of the French Legion of Honor in 2003 and an honorary knight of the Order of the British Empire in 2006.
