The center was in the United States so the family of the famous tennis player had to ask for a lot borrowed money, forcing their parents to have several jobs to return it. After several years of training and perfecting her technique, she made her first junior circuit in 2001 where she only lost 3 matches out of 25 played, winning the titles of Sacramento, Hilton and Heady Pilsen. Two years later Sharapova took her first professional tournaments in Tokyo and Quebec, becoming known internationally.

That same season Maria Sharapova took the tournaments of Birmingham, Seoul, Tokyo and the WTA Championship in Los Angeles, defeating the famous Serena Williams. However, during the next two years Sharapova did not win any Grand Slam, breaking the losing streak in 2006 by winning the US Open, reaching the third position in the world by the Women's Tennis Association. That same year, Sports Illustrated said that the famous tennis player was the athlete with the highest income that year, beating the then number one masculine, Roger Federer. Sharapova was consolidated as one of the best players worldwide winning several tournaments in the following seasons such as the Australia Open in 2008 and two Roland Garros in 2012 and 2014.

Maria Sharapova is also famous for its advertising commitments with various brands such as Nike, being criticized by specialists in the sports world who believe that this extraprofessional activity is a distraction to the famous tennis player, because she is the tennis player who has more contracts with brands worldwide.
