Édgar Ramírez Arellano is a famous television and films venezuelan actor. Was born March 25, 1977, in San Cristóbal, Venezuela.

He graduated in 1999 from the Andrés Bello Catholic University (Caracas) with a degree in mass communication, minoring in audiovisual communications. Ramírez speaks fluent English, Spanish, French, German and Italian. 

While in college he worked as an emerging journalist, reporting on politics. Later in 2000, he became executive director of Dale al Voto, a Venezuelan foundation created to engage and encourage the democratic values in young people.

However, Édgar Ramírez always felt attracted to the performing arts and in 2003 he became famous in his country for the role of Cacique in the soap opera Cosita Rica. The same year he acted in the film Yotama se va volando and in 2004 he played one of the main characters in the movie Punto y Raya of venezuelan director Elia Schneider.

Since then, he has acted in more than 20 cinematographic productions, mostly international, like: The Bourne Ultimatum, Ché, Carlos, Wrath of the Titans, The Libertador, Point Break, Joy, Hands of Stone, The Girl on the Train y Gold.

His name has been in the big screen along with Robert de Niro, Liam Neeson, Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, Michael Fassbender, Benicio Del Toro, Matt Damon, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Ralph Fiennes, Jessica Chastain, Cameron Diaz, Erica Bana, Chris Pratt, Javier Bardem, Keira Knightley, Rubén Blades, among others.

In 2018 he will incarnate the deceased fashion designer Gianni Versace in the american tv show The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. He will shared credits with Penélope Cruz, Ricky Martin, Darren Criss, Max Greenfield and Annaleigh Ashford.

Édgar Ramírez has been nominated to the Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Prix Lumièreo, London Film Critics Circle Award and the Online Film Critics Society Award. 

He also won the César Award for Most Promising Actor and the Monte-Carlo Television Festival for Best Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie for his role in Carlos (2011). Plus, in 2012 Édgar was recognized with the ALMA Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing Ares in Wrath of the Titans.
